Northern foursome for Yorkshire
YORKSHIRE’S domination of the Northern Counties League continued when a 13-5 win over Cheshire at Royal Liverpool saw them top the table for the fourth year in succession.
Unbeaten throughout the campaign with four wins and a draw against arch rivals Lancashire, the win took them to Aldeburgh at the end of September where they reclaimed the national title they last won in 2016.
Yorkshire took a 4-2 lead from the morning foursomes against Cheshire before cruising to any easy win in the singles 9-3.
Former county champion Ben Hutchinson (Howley Hall) was one of four players to win both games. He was joined by David Hague (Malton & Norton), Luke Robinson (Hornsea) and Josh Morton (Huddersfield) – successful in both the morning and afternoon sessions.
A further three in Rotherham’s Charlie Daughtrey, Sam Bairstow (Hallowes) and Bailey Gill, of Lindrick, returned a point and a half.
