Hat-trick for Alex
Alex Fitzpatrick’s dominance of the Yorkshire golf scene in 2017 continued with a win in the amateur match play championship played at his home course of Hallamshire.
His victory by 3&2 over England international David Hague from Malton and Norton gave Fitzpatrick a county hat-trick after collecting the Yorkshire Boy’s and senior titles this year.
The cream certainly came to the top as Fitzpatrick accounted for Wath’s English men’s amateur semi-finalist Nick Poppleton 3&2 in the semi-finals. Hague had won by two holes against George Muscroft in their semi-final match-up, the Otley man having accounted for 2016 England Golf Boys’ Order of Merit winner Charlie Thornton (Fulford) in the last eight.
Fitzpatrick has decided to put his move to top US golf college Wake Forest on hold for a year and in 2018 play full time golf for the first time. Look out world!
